Learn techniques to increase compassion in your life. The workshop will begin with a book discussion followed by a short gentle yoga practice. Several mindfulness practices will be taught with a guided meditation to end the workshop. The discussion is based on the book, Mindful Compassion: How the Science of Compassion Can Help You Understand Your Emotions, Live in the Present, and Connect Deeply with Others by Gilbert and Choden. Explore aspects of compassion, how it is connected with pain and suffering in life, and how you can work with emotions to incorporate mindful awareness into your life.

This weekly class will leave you feeling restored and rejuvenated. Begin with slow and gentle seated yoga poses designed to open the body and relieve excess energy. Transition into restorative poses to deepen the relaxation experience. Close with guided visualization and mindfulness techniques. In restorative yoga a variety of props are available to fully support the body and release muscular and emotional tension. The restorative poses are maintained for an extended period of time and have been proven to help manage pain and stress while unlocking your body's innate healing powers. Singing bowls produce beautiful music which invokes deep meditative and peaceful states. The tennis ball applies pressure to stiff and aching spots on your back while you lie down on the floor. The pressure targets a myofascial release, decreases muscle spasm and squeezes stagnant fluid out of tissue. Nicole is a gifted guide and her beautiful voice will lull you into a deep state of relaxation.

What is Thai Massage?
Also known as yoga massage, assisted yoga, ancient massage, and assorted other names, Thai massage respects the body's limits, while encouraging clients to reach their edge of flexibility, but never beyond. Thai massage incorporates acupressure, massage, and passive-assisted stretching, where therapists help clients move into their stretch. The work is purposely slow as the therapist guides clients through the movements, being ever mindful of their physical limitations. Some say the combination of movements and focused awareness during a Thai massage session creates what looks like a slow, flowing dance between practitioner and client.
